Published in Zanna Magazine Issue 12 When asked to think of what meant to me Summer Nights, I thought of the coolness of the air, light breeze, deep dark blue skies filled with stars, the quiet noise of nocturnal creatures, and the body, lying in the grass, restful, still. To depict the feeling, I needed to convey the posture of a woman that would feel comfortable so we could understand the bliss. I used saturated colors to convey the sun-kissed skin in summer, the green grass communicating the freshness of the early summer, and the blue sky and the stars giving the stillness of a peaceful night. This is the second painting for which I use Realism, for no other reason that each gesture, each fold of the fabric, each feature or detail of the body needs to convey with precision a feeling of peace.
