About The Artwork
The California Tower, a landmark of Balboa Park San Diego, stands tall behind the Alcazar Garden. Built in 1915 for an international exposition, the tower is now part of the Museum of Man. This Spanish colonial structure is an inspiration to numerous artists and photographers, locals and tourists, who visit San Diego. It is the centerpiece of Balboa Park, "The Jewel of San Diego." The original 11 X 14 inch oil painting is mounted on stretched canvas over a wood frame.
