I've been into Bowie since 1973 when my eldest sister bought the Aladdin Sane album and played it to death. I was ten at the time and it was a kind of epiphany. I was listening to "Drive In Saturday" with my head placed in the middle of our parent's radiogram speakers. Suddenly I was in Bowie's world... "Let me put my arms around your head, gee it's hot, let's go to bed...". He made me feel like no other pop star had before; I was awakened. I've been playing with this painting for nearly a year now, and as a result the artwork is now multi-layered. First Bowie on the "Man Who Sold The World" couch; then playing guitar on a dimly lit stage; next came the close up, his 70s look coming out of the dark, and finally the album cover collage and spray paint. I've never been fully happy with it. Over the last few weeks ideas have been coming to me. Today, on what would have been his 70th birthday, I wanted to rework and complete it. A fitting thing to do considering he's given me 45 years of pleasure. Thank you David Bowie.

Most recently Stephen's work has been featured in "And Now For The Good News (works from the Annette & Peter Nobel Art Collection)", at the Pera Museum, Turkey. Born in 1962 Stephen is a child of post war popular culture. His creativity began in '67 when his father set up a photographic darkroom in a cupboard under the stairs. There they made primitive b&w pictures, and Stephen hasn't stopped creating since. His work has been collected by Mark Bezos and many others around the world, and he likes to think his work gives pleasure, entertains and creates discussion.
