About The Artwork
This painting was part of a the island series however through the painting and thinking process went in its own direction to become what it is now as Bloc. I regularly pass an apartment block in Barcelona that I always wanted to somehow interpret/ incorporate into a painting especially around dusk with the setting sun colours which during the making process this almost became. It actually started as the Montenegro mountains and morphed into a photograph I took of south beach in Miami with a shipping container on the horizon and after a three month trip on the Indian Ocean started to develop in to the island ideas, however towards its end as the Ukraine crisis developed it became Bloc and a hope for peace.
