About The Artwork

In my Horizon Series I condense the horizon and also sometimes objects down to two essential and perfect colors. This one is different from the norm. It's rectangular instead of the usual square canvas that I've been using. I've also moved the horizon line from being perfectly in the middle in the square paintings to a balanced point in the rectangular space. The colors are very subtle and as simple as it seems I spend a lot of time getting the right colors and hues. It can be maddening at times. Beach #2 took over a year of painting and looking and finally deciding that it was done. These paintings are also about the subtly of light and they change as the light changes. EDIT: A lot of people including curators compare my work to Rothko and other color field painters. Mine is based on the horizon, then colors and most of the times are landscape.

I love a good medium rare rib-eye (edit: to many happy cow videos on Facebook. I'm turning vegetarian.), garlic mash potatoes and a nice glass of red. But I'm not having it for dinner every night. Just like my art work, I'm not gonna do the same thing every day. I’m always exploring different types of media, styles and especially ideas to create unique works. That said I do have a certain aesthetic all my own. I put a lot of thought into my work, there is a deeper meaning and it's not all about creating eye candy. My art is for those who appreciate originality and don't buy into what's "trending." Life is Art p.s. Hummus is horrible, but I love that cucumber, mint, yogurt thing.
