About The Artwork

The bond between a mother and her son is like no other. Children are our future. I created Port of Mother and Child originally on a 18 x 24” sketch paper back in 2017. Having it framed and matted behind plexiglass, the measurements are 25 x 31.” It’s wired and ready to hang.

My name is, John Quinton Dingle. I’m a visual artist specializing in oil painting. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, I was raised in a rural part of Summerton. Coming up, my father and I went fishing almost every weekend; except when deer season came in. Though one activity I’ve always enjoyed more and brought me peace, and that was drawing. All throughout K-12th, I don’t think there was a day I didn’t have a sketch pad in my backpack. Attending Scott’s Branch High School, I studied art for three years, favoring oil painting. Most of my subjects, compositions, portray family, children, and sports, such as my portrait of my father, “Getting Ready” to go fishing. There’s nothing much in a small town other than fishing, hunting, and spending time with your love ones. Therefore, I’ve become fond of both styles, expressionism and realism. Upon graduating with honors, I furthered my education at the University of South Carolina. There, I’ve been fortunate to obtain an Associate in Arts degree. Today I’m a proud member of Sumter County Artist Guild. Each year we host a summer show and exhibition. For I am proud of my journey thus far.
