About The Artwork
1220mm x 1220mm, Collage of Mixed Media and Winsor and Newton Oils on Superwood, of Nelson Mandela after his release from prison. I started this work by making a collage of newspaper articles of the old apartheid leaders and symbols. After that I started covering them up with oil paint washes and finally worked the portrait in over the layers and textures created by the collage and layers of oils.
