About The Artwork
When I created this print, the figure seemed to want to tell me something. The flashing of colors and the repetition of shapes imply dialogue. The plant shapes give the figure their power while she is still. The growth energy and life force are contained within her. I enjoy gel plate printing for the layering of transparent color and the unexpected results that can be found with stencils, whether used to lay down color or to block it. The style is not quite minimal, but the cool, broad, flat areas of color give it a coolness that has a minimalist feel.
