Two Men Fishing. Seawall, Casablanca, Morocco. 2007 Photograph - Limited Edition of 20

On a trek to Casablanca years ago now, my wife and I wandered from our hotel near the old Medina and soon found ourselves along the seawall bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Waves were crashing and people, almost all men, were milling about -- walking, playing soccer, soaking in the sun -- and soon we found these two men fishing: the old man, with a simple pole; the other sitting beside him, watching. They were eager to show us their catch: two or three small fish in an old, bent aluminum can. I loved the earthy simplicity of this shot, them perched a top this high wall, the raging Atlantic below, apartments and the littered wall stretched out behind -- all, with that huge car ad painted on the side of the otherwise stark building. In recent weeks, as I thought about offering photos for print, this image was one that readily sprung to mind and I did test prints on a host of papers, deciding in the end to offer it on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta for how it captured the heat and rawness of the day. NOTE: The photo imprint will be 15.6 x 8 but the overall photo with border is 17.1 x 9.6
