Water 1332 Painting

I am an abstract painter from Los Angeles, California. My early training as an artist began in college where I discovered a passion for drawing and painting. I continued attending outdoor painting workshops in Southern California taught by local well-known artists. I was originally trained in the Plein-Air Impressionist style where I learned to paint with natural light, shadow, and the colors of nature. I enjoyed the challenges of painting representationally but was later inspired by Abstract artists I saw at many museums and expositions I visited. Through months of experimentation in the studio, I began painting abstracts and enjoyed the sense of freedom it gave me. I believe the paint I'm working with has a mind of its own at times. It cannot always be controlled completely. There is uncertainty, not knowing how the final result will be. As the paint is pulled across the canvas with a palette knife, it lays where it wants to by creating textures, sculptural shapes, and patterns. My abstract paintings are done in expressive bold pigments, depicting the colors I find in nature. As a result, I have developed a collection of original oil paintings of unique quality and presence.
