About The Artwork
The message by Pat Dumez (2015), is a simplified figurative genre scene. We see the bee in flight and from behind facing a young girl on her knees in the center, with large glasses, hooded in a short red garment. She is wearing pink mittens and her hands are resting on her knees. The warm blue and black background is dotted with an arc of hexagonal beeswax cells. The colors are warm and frank. The blue inspires calm. Red, passion and fight. Yellow, power and life. The patterns are flat in space, the shapes are surrounded by lines. The brushstroke is smooth and fast. The eye is drawn to the bee, the honeycomb and the girl's face. It is an allegory.
