About The Artwork
This work is an allegory of sorts. 'The World' is represented by the man (culture) and the ‘Wife' is represented by nature and the surrounding cosmos. The one is nested within and depends on the other. In this work, the World is portrayed as 'being' (businessman of the 1950s, a nostalgic yearning for a lost time and the avoidance of change), while the wife represents 'becoming' and 'process'.
