The power of nature is unbridled. It is a natural force that can be monitored, and definitely humanely regulated to keep us safe and protected, and to some human degree of prevention and timely alerts and warnings somewhat out of harm’s way, but it cannot be fully controlled to the point of guaranteeing the complete safety of human life. In this painting, I attempted to represent a detail, a fragment isolating the force of water in the form of ‘the wave’ barreling in from the sea, as its’ tremendous energy pours in, hitting and reinforcing another wave, or the moment it crashes on to land. I have applied colors, lines and inter-connected, transformed shapes that zoom in and show the enormous energy, motion and body of the wave, focusing on the submerged section or under belly of the wave, as it picks up steam rushing forward along an unstoppable path. A path, a movement joined by other currents and waves that have been formed and created as it rides out its singular and collective destiny as a natural phenomenon.
