About The Artwork
With the lack of subjects whilst working from home, I decided to paint a portrait of my housemate and friend, Nic. Nic is a very clever guy with a rather quiet exterior and unassuming personality. Using a subtle, muted palette to convey his 'quietness' I decided to paint his profile gazing off the edge of the canvas. The magic he makes in his job as a developer and hobby as a musician are highlighted with the lighting of his head and sparkle of the shirt.

I was born in Wales, studied in Nottingham and now live and work in Folkestone. I've finally given in to the fact that I need to make art. I quit my day job to start painting in January 2013. I'm also a beekeeper. I usually work in acrylic using just 5 colours and a hairdryer. I paint, draw and etch faces mostly, but plan to do more wildlife pieces in the future.
