About The Artwork

The setting is the “tree house” overlooking the lush 6BC Botanical Garden in the East Village on a spring afternoon. Glass doors from the second-floor library lead us out to the balcony, where a visitor, Kerri Lindström, from her nearby EV Gallery, sits alone, absorbed in a letter. The door windows alternate between being transparent and reflective. The building in the background reminds us that we are in fact in the city, with the blue reflections in the upper windows indicating that it’s a beautiful sunny day. The open doors reflect the colors outside, while they point to the subject of the painting.
