Acrylic portrait on canvas board of my daughter made in early morning light on the coast near the Mill Valley, California. You arrive in California and come across the Pacific Coast. It’s a bigger ocean than you have ever seen before. The cool ocean breeze and the vast scale of the Pacific is a shock at the end of a long flight.

Roger Liley is an English artist born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1951 and has studied at Leek School of Art and Stoke on Trent School of Art. His interest in contemporary portraits began in the 1970s inspired by the work of David Hockney first seen at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. Roger captures the positive inner spirit of his subjects, who include celebrities and politicians. Roger works in oil and acrylic. He is currently studying at Chelsea Collage of Art and is working towards his first London exhibition.
