Passion Red Painting

One of a series of paintings I done for an exhibition in London. This one is still available (I had quite a few reds!!). Once again I wanted to combine the Rothko idea of the power of colour with the style of Gerhard Richter. I also have experimented with other colours seeing the different reactions of the viewers as they get close to one colour or another. I paint these with Acrylics because I feel they respond simultaneously with my feelings at the time of painting them, using brushes at first and then mount-board to 'squeegee' the paint from one point to another until it gives me the 'feel' I'm looking for. Before I start any of these paintings I research and look at many objects and scenery in the colours I want to put in the painting so although I,m painting an abstract there's a subject to get with the feel of it (blood, poppy field, red wine etc) this way I get my senses to combine to get out the emotion the painting hopefully gives to the viewer.
