Nocturne #3 Painting

This is one of a series of paintings exploring the meadows near my studio at night. The paintings were intended to communicate the experience of walking across fields either in the dark or solely illuminated by distant lights so they have an element of stumbling and deception about them. This one, along with it's pair (Nocturne #7, also on Saatchi Art) were both the same misty night and is at the most built up end of the meadows. It is looking in the opposite direction to #7, and the orange lights are the street lamps and headlights of the M25 (which runs along an embankment which is the horizon here) being diffused through the mist coming up off the Thames. The painting is approximately 16" x 12" and is on box canvas with the edges painted black. As with all of my work it is made from top quality artist grade paints. It is unvarnished as I was experimenting with using subtle variations in sheen and gloss to help build up space. It is unframed.
