A man in a bowler hat appears upside down, hanging from inside the stairwell of what appears to be a some sort of a school. The 'EXIT' sign appears above the doorframe and there is a stairwell beyond, lit by a harsh, neon light. What is seemingly an ordinary setting takes a twist for the surreal with the image of the upside down man, who resembles many of the bowler hatted men that appear in paintings by my favorite artist, Rene Magritte. This painting continues my quest to paint the impossible, or at least the highly improbable as I pursue my own version of modern day surrealism.
