Wow. This was one of the most challenging paintings I've ever done! It looks deceivingly simple, but this was painted en plein air, meaning outdoors. Picture me: driving to a random location in the middle of the desert and packing all my food and water, hiking to a good view, setting up my paints and board and chair (if I'm lucky), and then painting in the heat, with a time limit, because I have a 3-4 hour drive home when I'm done the painting. I complete all my plein air paintings 95% outdoors at the site. I think this one turned out beautifully and it is primarily in one of my favorite colors - mint!
