About The Artwork
I am attracted to the amazing Maine light. This entire work was painted on the spot. It required that I work deliberately and rapidly as the light was constantly in flux. I wanted to capture the brilliant light on the water in contrast to the gray tones of the rock and soft colors of the sea grass in the foreground. The driftwood provided a great relief to the solid and weighty rocks. The late afternoon sunlight falls on the mainland in the distance providing a deep, rich space.

I have painted business leaders such as the posthumus portrait of L.L. Bean for the L.L. Bean Company in Freeport, Maine, Marvin Sadik, the former director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the late philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce for her private collection. I have painted multitudes of children portraits throughout the years. I am now painting landscapes in oils and pastels and exhibiting my work in the Northeast of the USA.
