This work is painted on unstetched high quality canvas. It is ready to hang thanks to a horizontal wooden list fixed on the top of the back. A second wooden list is fixed at the bottom of the back to stabilize. The work can thus be rolled and sent easily. This work is related to the dramatic events in the mediterranean sea with thousands of migrants dying after having taken extreme risks to try to reach richer countries in hope of a decent life. One morning, I was about to start work in the studio when the radio mentioned that another boat had arrived in Lampedusa where after having rescued the passengers, the crew of helpers found an abandoned baby. The parents had not been able to pay the traffickers for themselves, only for their child, in a gesture of desperate hope.
