About The Artwork
This was inspired by a visit to Rome where I saw this Roman girl bartender. She was obviously Italian but had a different look, very Roman, I painted her upon my return from Italy, from my "paparazzi" photos. I noticed she was looking down, going about her coffee making business, at the time, and she had this thick sweater on. Somehow, there was this wonderful light falling on her. As I painted her, this very sculptural figure emerged, very classical in feeling and depth. There is this very quite, contemplative spirit to the work. One doesn't tire from looking at her. Just the opposite.
