Gladrags Painting

This little 40 x 40 painting is part of a collection of small paintings created by the artist after 18 months of working large scale. The inspiration for the painting began with a dress pattern, sections of which the artist has used in the initial layers of the work. Using graphic lines and shapes to begin, with then building up loose glazes and expressive impasto colour it reflects the experience of a Saturday night out ; all dressed up and looking gorgeous at the start of the evening depending into mayhem and gay abandon as the night goes on.
