About The Artwork
This is a pastel painting executed on sanded pastel paper. Currently, it is not framed but a frame is available. This is a beautiful location on Casco Bay in the City of Portland. The view overlooks local islands. I was inspired by the dramatic winter sunlight on the snow and building. The bush to the left is rugged and makes a stark contrast to the pristine building. Both are subject to the harsh Maine winters. I want the viewer to feel the sharp cold winter. At the same time, I want to convey the warm sunlight penetrating that bitter cold. The warm sunlight points toward the hope of spring.

I have painted multitudes of children portraits throughout the years. I am now painting landscapes in oils and pastels and exhibiting my work in the Northeast of the USA.
