About The Artwork
I have always liked Pop Art, and this work references in particular the French Narrative Figuration artists of the 1960s. Digital composition is ideal for this type of documentary work. Once I have manipulated the images to create a satisfactory whole, the composition is then transfer printed by hand on to the canvas using emulsion paint. I then paint with acrylics to eventually produce a disturbed but detailed surface. I avoid a photographic interpretation. The subject matter depicts a likely outcome of the struggle between democracy and neoliberalism - or maybe it has already happened... The work is signed on the back. The canvas is on a wooden stretcher.The work will be shipped ready to hang but unframed.
