About The Artwork
This is a portrait of my girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. I tried to get across his arrogant, abrasive tone which I hope is achieved by his angular face and the angle it's painted from. The palette is very muted and limited - the blue being a colour close to his heart. There are a lot of layers of paint and in some places the texture is rather pronounced creating an impasto feel.

I was born in Wales, studied in Nottingham and now live and work in Folkestone. I've finally given in to the fact that I need to make art. I quit my day job to start painting in January 2013. I'm also a beekeeper. I usually work in acrylic using just 5 colours and a hairdryer. I paint, draw and etch faces mostly, but plan to do more wildlife pieces in the future.
