Capturing Threads of Light No. 30 Painting

The painting is part of the cycle with the same title. Capturing Threads of Light, cycle has been initiated in 2010. This particular canvas created in 2011, depicts an expressive musical and meditation exercise where the usual painting implements are replaced with found swan feathers. The feathers were found, during my usual walks in late spring, by the nearby park lake, after one of the swans (a young mother of 3 signets) has been killed by a dog. Whilst creating this piece, I imagined and felt as if the feather in my hand and my arm is becoming an extension of a wing and this strong wing is moving, as in a trial to flight, to the music (classical), and it lifts up from the water/ ground in an liberating 'flight of the spirit'. It is in fact a suggestive parallel of the swan and my own spirit, lifting up free in a meditative state and highly peaceful. There is an extreme freedom of movement and speed in this dance of music and colour. Breath is a very important element in this exercise. Music by Bach. (Suites for solo cello, No 1 in G major)
