On our travels out west we visited the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.Until then, I had some trouble visualizing the place of "Custer's Last Stand". Seeing the actual river valley helped to piece it all together. Didn't work out so well for the 600 bluecoats on that day. However it was a multi-pronged attack on the natives. One of the most devious and successful schemes, was wiping out the vast herds of buffalo that the tribes relied on to live. Hard to believe they could almost drive them to near extinction in such a short time. This painting is a little tribute to the iconic buffalo.
