About The Artwork
In 1992 I crossed the Sahara desert through Algeria. It is the most profound individual experience of my life. At that time there was a civil war in the country which did not prevent me from contact with the common Algerian people. The human richness and the beauty of the landscapes have inhabited me ever since. This painting is part of the Mentalmaps series where I try to translate my memories of geography into abstract aesthetics.
