About The Artwork
Every painting, every canvas that is presented to me has it's own history and story. They are like entities with wants and desires with characteristics that push and mold the artist into submission. 'This is who I am' it says, and so it shall be. I didn't document the making of Arcadia No. 3. It needed its own space where the only witness to it's creation was through it's maker. The Blood Moon element came at the very last moment, relentless and without fault. It is 6 April 2021 as I type this. Later next month on May 26, 2021, at 11:11 - 11:25 UTC, we will witness this particular event. There is an equal balance of excitement and danger, as a new venture or opportunity has made itself known. Because of the awakening, opportunity presents itself like a potential new lover, and the appearance of the Blood Moon. She has arrived.

Canada
Norm Yip (葉灃) was born in Canada in 1963 by Chinese parents. After studying fine art in Saskatchewan and architecture in Toronto, he moved to Hong Kong where began working as an architect. In 1999, he decided to transition into fine art and photography, following his deeper passion into his personal interests. He formed a collective called Melo-Melo Artist Alliance with several friends. It was then that his journey into art began. Oscillating between photography as a main source of income and painting as a hobby, he began to assert more attention and time to the latter. He has exhibited numerously in both solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, and most recently in Bangkok, Italy and New York. He currently resides in his birthplace province of Saskatchewan, Canada where he continues to paint and photograph.
