About The Artwork
Eighteen months ago a pandemic swept the world. Lockdowns were imposed. In the UK every Thursday night at 8pm people appeared from their apartments, houses, mansions and castles to applaud the NHS and key workers. Their way of offering thanks for the work these people were doing. I witnessed a slice of history and have recorded it in this painting Applause.

I was born in Manchester England. I attended Oldham and Stockport Art Colleges. I helped to form the Embryo Group which consisted of a collective group of painters, sculptors and poets. I now live in Royton near Oldham. I paint the world around me. This is the starting point for my paintings. I don't produce photographic copies but use the subject as a starting point to create a unique image which has its own poetry and meaning.
