In my work, the boundaries between figurative elements and abstraction dissolve in an attempt to grasp the duality within me. My main concern when creating lays on the method and process of painting itself. However sometimes I turn to symbols or images to make a point when there is a specific narrative behind the painting. For some time I’ve been trying to separate them until I realised that it would be like trying to separate some parts of me from the others. I work with no preconceived ideas or sketches, straight to the canvas, organising the surface with brushstrokes and gestures and using accidents and mistakes as a resource in an attempt to seize the freedom of action painting. In the other hand the need to address certain issues sometimes leads me to introduce figurative elements. Everyday objects, animals or faces might be incorporated in order to make a point. Anyhow, with or without incorporating elements that might represent or resemble real things my practice is subject to the special characteristics and possibilities that painting offers as a medium. Therefore is fair to say that my work’s main theme is my work itself.

Spanish Artist 1977 Sevilla. In my work there is improvisation and arrangement; there is room for chaos and the meditated construction of an image. There are connections, contradictions and dilemmas wrapped in an abstract atmosphere in which the emphasis is made in the process of painting itself and its characteristics and possibilities as a medium.
