About The Artwork
This pastel artwork is large and is framed and ready to hang. I was interested in the shape of the crab on the blue pattered plate with the horizontal lines of the cloth. I added the plant and red peppers and worked hard on the composition. The end result was very pleasing to me as it was quite a challenge to get it right. The white cloth showed up the red sweet chillies, and red and green peppers. I also added the green plant pot which I felt had the right balance of colour. Pastel is one of my favourite mediums especially for still life. My still life pastels are shown in the prestigious London Mall gallery with the Society of Women's annual exhibition, of which I am a member

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
