About The Artwork
Series of work inspired by the tales of Taliesin taken from the story book, by Robert Nye. The story of Ceridwen inspired this triptych. Medieval Welsh poetry refers to her as possessing the cauldron of poetic inspiration (Awen) and the Tale of Taliesin recounts her swallowing her servant Gwion Bach who is then reborn through her as the poet Taliesin. Ceridwen is regarded by many modern pagans as the Celtic goddess of rebirth, transformation, and inspiration. Improvisational cut and fused abstract composition that is machine-stitched and quilted, primarily from hand-dyed and painted fabrics. Display requirements; sleeves attached to the back of each panel allows for basic hanging from a batten.

I am a textile artist living and working in Neath, South Wales. I have been making art quilts for a very long time - over 30 years! I love colour and use it for its contrasts and its vibrant and intense nature. I cut and fuse fabrics to make collage and am inspired by, urban, social and popular culture and natural forms. Making fabric collage is a natural outlet for my passion for cloth, for exploiting its possibilities and for providing a dialogue with the viewer.
