About The Artwork

Post production plays an important role in my photography, mainly because I like to relive the experience at the time of activating the camera shutter. The photograph on my computer monitor effectively takes on a second life. One that endures way beyond the moment. I have developed the habit of photographing not only the primary subject but as many of the elements associated with it. In this photograph the soil at the edge of the water in the foreground had dried and cracked, which contrasted markedly with the finely textured foliage in the distance and the soft, slightly diffused sky. I layered elements of several photographs taken at the time and raise-embossed the melded image to have it stand proud of the nondescript ground, which effectively separates the impression from the reality.
