This work is part of my Everyday Objects series. These mundane objects are carved realistically in accurate proportional sizes from timber, with the inclusion of hemp cords in this piece and the light bulb. The works have a playful quality, whilst commenting on the futile feeling domestic life often conjures. The dimension listed on this piece are for the steam iron, with the cord being variable in the way that it can be displayed.

Kate is an artist based in the coastal town of Wollongong. Her works are predominantly three-dimensional, with each of her practices informing the others. Her more recent works have been inspired by mythology, folk lore and traditional narratives. The translation of these oral histories into concrete sculptural forms, using a mixture of found and carved timbers and natural elements is what drives her making practice. Kate makes both free-standing and wall pieces and works in a range of scales.
