About The Artwork
This is a Photograph of a white marble sculpture of Cihuacoatl I made in China in 2012 for the XIII International Sculpture Symposium. Cihuacoatl (Female Serpent) is a Goddess that is mother to humans in the Aztec culture, this mother goddess is said to have molded the first humans out of a clay made from ground bone remains from the first human giants, mixed with the blood of the gods, to create present day humans. She is wife to Quetzalcoatl (Feathered Serpent) who along with his twin brother, steals the giant bone from the underworld gods after beating them in battle. This is my version of this goddess, from my Tribal Pop series.
