Tom Kaser is an autodidact photographer and digital artist, who currently lives with his wife and their daughter in the Washington DC Metro area. It all started in Vienna, Austria, in 1988 when Tom signed up for a photography class getting his first opportunity to creatively experiment in a darkroom environment. After seeing the fruits of his first photographic work, little did he know back then that it would become his raison d'etre. With photography's transition from analog to digital, he saw his next chance to take a leap forward in his artistic expression. Tom seeks inspiration from styles and techniques of the old masters in the creative arts. Loving attention to detail and a panoramic, canvas-like feel in his images, reflect his belief that the close study of the arts should be the essence of photography and kept in mind every time a camera's shutter is pressed. After specializing in portraiture and still-life photography, more recently he became interested in the majestic outdoors, seeking a new twist on 18th and 19th century "Romanticism" landscape art from the likes of John Constable, Corot, Waldmueller or Arnegger. In his work, he aims to convince the observer to formulate his individual interpretation of perspective. His most powerful works create a rustic texture through a combination of color, light and object placement.
