About The Artwork
Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Charcoal on canvas This painting is on canvas and ships in a tube. It will stretch to 48”x60” with 1.5” deep edges. My inspiration came from the open space created by the canyons of Utah and Colorado and the billowy clouds floating through that expanse. I wanted to exaggerate the silhouette of the cliffs against the sky and the touch on the deep red ochre color of the rocks. Part of the Shapes and Shadows collection.

As a minimalist artist, I find inspiration in capturing the essence of Earth's organic elements through silhouettes and simplified shapes. I celebrate the inherent beauty of rock formations, flowers, and water, blending well-defined shapes with expansive negative spaces to create intriguing compositions. ~~ Bio Laura Welshans is a multi-media abstract artist residing in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has exhibited her artwork in juried group shows like the 61st Delta Exhibition of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and The Other Art Fair in Dallas and Chicago as well as showcased her work in numerous solo exhibitions throughout her home state of Arkansas. She received a fellowship from Artist INC and selected for the Jen Tough Gallery Collective in Santa Fe, NM. Her work belongs to collections including CARTI Cancer Center and The Haywood Hotel. Laura shares her passion by teaching at the CreatorFest summer camp. She has received juried art awards and included in many publications.
