About The Artwork
I painted this model on the morning a friend returned from visiting the magnificent art museums in Vienna. Her enthusiasm brought me back to my own trip to Vienna, and this painting was inspired by my own love of the Austrian masters. I had planned on painting this portrait in multiple sessions, but once I started I felt it needed to be painted alla prima (wet into wet), rather than allowing it to dry between sessions, so I rushed to finish it within one sitting.
