About The Artwork
This work is a mixture of a layered acrylics underpainting with energetic sweeping oil paint on top. It evokes a lot of energy not only in the motion but also in the juxtaposition of the colors. It is painted on stretched gallery canvas, 1.5" deep and is signed and dated on the back. The colors are extremely rich and saturated. I've always been inspired by the work of abstract expressionism painters, in particular Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothco, for their command of color and the interplay of subtle layering with bold shapes and energy. I hope the viewer will continue to find new colors and shapes with every interaction of this painting. I find the shapes both highly energetic and mesmerizing at the same time. It is a total release and freedom of expression for me.
