About The Artwork
This painting emerged in response to the wild Cornish landscape and lush, tropical flora found in Cornwall´s public gardens. After 12 years living and working in rural Portugal and returning to the UK, Beth journies around the composition in the discovery of a new landscape, rich with imagination, remembering form and colour and centred around the familiar domesticity of a simple bed. Full of sybolism and fresh as a Cornish walk, Richardson explores the concepts of home and roots with joy and exuberance.
