About The Artwork
Driving from Sydney to Broken Hill, I am enamoured by the constantly changing landscape passing by. I draw, I photograph and video the experience. In order to replicate the plein air paintng process, impossible in the car, I replay the video outdoors and painted 20 gouache studies from stills of the video... capturing a sense of movement, time and space, passing. I exhibited these with one large 200x100 painting and the video, in Sydney in 2018. I hope the viewer gets a sense of outback Australia. space, land, time passing, not passing.
