During this time, Genevieve observed that the wildflowers and grasses were left untamed in the city, as human activity slowed to a halt. This brought a little wildness and wilderness into the urban areas. Quixotic is a bold and wildly romantic painting - it’s full of riotous colour and form. The name means idealist and foolish in pursuit of a lofty idea and the artist wanted to embody the intensity of passion and hope over experience. Soft, bold forms jostling out of a deep dark space. It is a complex painting full of layered glazes, the first layer is scaped into the surface of the paint, giving texture and depth. Subsequent transparent glazes allow the paint to almost float front the surface. Genevieve Leavold is known for her wet into wet technique and deft immediate brushwork. This piece in particular celebrates that signature style. The palette is very rich and would bring a significant focal point to any room. This painting is unframed but we recommend a simple dark wood tray frame to compliment the painting. It will be carefully wrapped and shipped in a box with a certificate of Authenticity from the Artist studio.
