This delightful pink 9x12 fauvist painting features two women playing tennis across a net that bisects the painting. The court is a lively mix of rose, blush, cherry blossom, and salmon pink tones. The piece has been varnished for UV and surface protection and as a result the colors are a little bit richer and deeper than they appear in the (pre-varnish) photograph. The players are the primary subjects of the work, but four other people are depicted against the back wall of the court, a wall painted in pale lilac blue and emblazoned with repeating slazenger adverts. Small splashes of forest green break the overall pink, white, blue, and black palette in places. It is painted on cradled board, with nude pine sides on the cradle. This painting will ship, lovingly wrapped in glassine and layers of padding, in a box, from my little studio in Oakland California.
