About The Artwork
Inspiration for me is born out of observation of people, their behavior, cultural diversity and specific locations. It is in this context that I chose to create a surface that explodes in contradictory warm, cool and pulsating colors. A surface of colors that are densely layered with inks, matte medium interwoven with words, sentences, thoughts and social statements that snake through and intentionally meander in the composition. The observer is confronted by a text that repeats on top and on the bottom, confronting the observer, the bystander, the passerby, to focus in, even strain to read what is written. One has to take the time to focus in and be able to decipher and translate the written words that float on the surface with a structured, meaningful intention that on first glance appears discombobulated and haphazard.
