About The Artwork
Historical events have always fascinated me. Especially ones, like the invasion of Normandy, France in 1944 that successfully changed the course of WWII, with the enormous cost and sacrifice of human lives among the Allied forces. I have visited the landing sites at this coastline stretch of beach twice, and was impacted by the sheer forces of nature and its terrain, the choppy waves hitting the shores in bad weather, the rocky, jagged towering cliffs, and the vulnerability of being exposed depending upon position and perspective. These natural elements I tried to recapture in such a composition.
