This piece, another diptych; came to fruition in a much different way than pretty much all of my work. A new friend/client recently purchased 4 pieces in one week, and I was over at their house brainstorming on framing/hanging options. In the middle of a story about purchasing a different piece in NYC years ago, she said something about “honorable mention” - & then stopped and goes “that should be the title of yer next piece” I wrote it down on my arm cuz I didn’t have my book and started it as soon as I got home. The smiley face is another story. I felt it fit with the real pop art feeling of the HM icon. Me and a group of friends have a version of the smiley face tattoo that we all got in honor of one of our best friends who passed away in 2013. The tattoo is actually a frowning face and the eyes are N M, which stands for Nothing Matters - an inside joke. But I didn’t wanna have that much negativity in an otherwise bright, colorful happy piece. *Please note: the smaller canvas on the left with the face is slightly smaller, like less than half an inch- than the bigger 60”x48” canvas. It was a custom piece I got as a sample from a retail buyer trying to get into new locations and has slightly less than perfect dimensions for whatever reason. The difference is barely noticeable though.

Main goal: I’m just trying to make dope art. 2nd goal: And hopefully one day make a living off it. Ive always been artistic. I just didn’t know you could be an artist as a job. I always liked to draw. My school papers had more drawings, sketches and scribbles than correct answers. I started writing poems/songs around 13/14ish. I tried writing novels and comics with my brother Ryan in junior high. Beginning of 10th grade I began taking a 3 hour Drafting & Design extra-curriculum class 5 days a week until I graduated high school, realizing although I love, appreciate and have a passion for architecture - it’s not a career for me. The summer of 2001 is really where it all culminated - a friend showed me his graffiti, how to make stencils, etc. I made my first stencil and used a can a spray paint on a few utility boxes, and haven’t put it down since. self-taught. outsider. painter. writer. singer. director. editor. email me for inquiries about the rest of my portfolio. or prices. thescenerymediacentre@gmail.com
