Holiday Tablescape Original Fauvist Floral Celebration Print

This piece was painted as a sort of ode to friendsgiving. As immigrants to the US without any family nearby, my husband and daughter and I had to create our own traditions. In recent years these traditions have included embracing all of the nearby people who haven't a place to go for thanksgiving and celebrating connection and community over a shared meal. I collect mismatched china plates and bowls (which we use every day) so these are represented on the table in the painting, bringing their own history of years and meals and celebrations to the conversation, and also their different traditions of art and craft and manufacture. This painting thus celebrates so many of the things I hold dear. There is a small nick in the edge of the cradle at the painting surface on the left side of the board. It does not impact the look of the piece. The painting will ship from my home studio in Oakland, lovingly wrapped in layers of glassine and padding.
